The Position
You will work on complete project life cycle from, user requirements specifications to create functional design specifications, before taking part in execution, commissioning, factory acceptance tests, site installation, production of operation, preparing training manuals, and customer training. On completion of each project you will serve as part of a support group maintaining deployed systems to ensure their operability within the production environment.
This role requires expertise in industrial automation, Data Center / Building management system, mechanical systems, and production processes, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Responsibilities
Technical Support & Solution Development:
- Work closely with customers to understand their technical issues, requirements and provide tailored support and solutions.
- Offer pre-sales and post-sales support, including troubleshooting and system optimizations.
- Develop application, design and implement automation solutions, leveraging IoT sensors, machines and devices to connect and monitor industrial processes and equipment
- Experience on PLC and SCADA development and integration.
- Ensuring key documents are completed as required.
- Support and delivery of data center and Shop-Floor IT projects including applications including Ignition (SCADA) developed applications, .NET applications and Shopfloor I.T which links the shop floor to a corporate system.
Commissioning & Testing:
- Perform detailed commissioning of SCADA (BMS/DCIM), and HVAC systems in the manufacturing and data centre facility.
- Working with different protocol and IOT connectivity
- Execute pre-commissioning checks, inspections, and tests on various systems (e.g., generators, UPS, HVAC, cooling systems, fire suppression, lighting, power distribution).
- Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) for critical infrastructure systems.
- Perform troubleshooting and rectifications of any issues found during testing and commissioning processes
Customer Engagement & Training:
- Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training sessions for clients.
- Provide on-site support and commissioning of equipment or software.
- Develop technical documentation, including user manuals and application notes
Collaboration & Project Management:
- Work with sales teams to identify customer needs and provide technical insights during the sales process.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for software integration and testing.
- Assist in project planning, execution, and coordination between internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Ensuring key documents are completed as required.
- Interface with all levels of external stakeholders for detailed planning and delivery of the project depending on the experience.
System Handover & Documentation:
- Ensure a smooth handover of systems to the operations team by providing thorough documentation and training.
- Assist with the creation of final as-built documentation, operational manuals, and maintenance procedures.
- Prepare reports summarizing testing outcomes and issues encountered
Vendor Oversight:
- Liaise with panel manufacturers to ensure correct interpretation and execution of panel designs/drawing; provide clarifications and resolve technical queries as needed. Conduct site visits to panel manufacturing works (in Malaysia) to monitor fabrication, assembly, wiring, and testing of panels, ensuring conformity to design, quality benchmarks, and project timelines
Site Installation & Commissioning:
- Mobilise to Malaysia site, Support the site team in the construction & commissioning phase and provide technical leadership on the panel design including interface to customer
- Lead/manage the commissioning process, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for all systems
Project Management:
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement teams, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of panels and resolve any issues that may arise during manufacture or delivery and help Project manager on scope changes and risk management
Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, reports and data
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to enhance panel design, manufacturing processes, and testing methodologies
Key Skills Required Include
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Min 7 years of proven experience similar or relevant field.
- Added advantage for knowledge in SCADA, Ignition, Wincc, Others), HMI development knowledge or of supporting and delivering Datacentre/BMS.
- Added advantage in knowledge of Manufacturing Processes & Automation
- Experience with PLC and SCADA Programming
- Experience with different databases is essential (MS SQL/ Oracle/ MySQL, etc.)
- Experience with different protocols, Machine Communication for building and manufacturing industries.
- Experience in configuring, building and redistributing of third-party libraries for embedded and Microsoft Windows.
- Mid-level of proficiency in Python, Microsoft .NET technologies (C#)
- Mid / low-level of proficiency in JAVA, ASP .NET and web technologies.
