Role summary
We are seeking a Senior MES MOM Specialist with experience in Ignition to design, develop, and implement SCADA and MES applications. In this role, you will work on the digitalization efforts of medium- and large-sized customers across various industries, including food & beverage, automotive, life sciences, and aerospace. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality MES/MOM solutions tailored to optimize manufacturing processes and support production efficiency.
This position combines expertise in software engineering, manufacturing operations, and customer engagement. While most of the development and testing activities take place off-site, you will occasionally travel to customer sites for deployment and implementation.
Key responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing, testing, installing and diagnosing on new or existing client systems.
Ignition and Sepasoft Expertise:
- Develop SCADA and MES solutions using Ignition and Sepasoft modules.
- Configure and deploy workflows, production models, and reporting.
Solution Design and Implementation:
- Collaborate with clients to design and customize SCADA/MES solutions that align with their manufacturing processes.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and user interfaces using Ignition Perspective or Vision.
- Integrate MES systems with existing enterprise solutions, such as ERP, WMS, and other OT systems.
System Integration and Communication Protocols:
- Interface with PLCs, OPC servers, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, RS232, B2MML, XML).
- Ensure seamless communication between MES, SCADA, and shop floor devices.
Database and Software Development:
- Configure and manage SQL databases for historical data, alarms, and reporting purposes.
- Develop scripts and automation routines using Python, Java, and other programming tools supported by Ignition.
Technical Documentation and Support:
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation for both internal teams and external clients.
- Provide troubleshooting and post-implementation support for deployed systems.
Travel:
- Occasionally travel to customer sites for deployment, commissioning, and training.
YOUR PROFILE – qualifications you will need and Key skills and requirements
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Automation or related fields of study.
- More than 7 year’s professional experience in SCADA and/or MES/MOM technical projects.
Core Expertise:
- Expertise in Ignition SCADA (Perspective, Vision, scripting, database connections) or other SCADA platforms.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Python, Java, .NET, and REST APIs.
- Expertise in SQL databases (MS SQL, Oracle) for MES/SCADA integration.
- Familiarity with industrial automation protocols (OPC UA, RS232, XML).
Industrial Automation Knowledge:
- Experience with PLCs (Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, workflows, and optimization techniques.
General Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a logical approach to technical challenges.
- Strong communication skills to interact with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Language and Travel:
- English proficiency at a B2 level or higher.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site implementation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the food & beverage, automotive, life sciences, or aerospace industries.
- Familiarity with other MOM platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Wonderware).
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
